2024 US Presidential Election
US President Joe Biden Expresses Willingness to Debate Donald Trump
Joe Biden's campaign initially declined to commit to participating in debates against Donald Trump. In March, Biden stated that whether or not he would debate Trump depended on his behavior. The Trump campaign, however, expressed willingness for a debate, saying they are open to discussing anytime, anywhere. Notably, Trump did not participate in the Republican primary debates this cycle.
Later, Biden's top campaign advisers sent a letter to an independent commission regarding potential debate formats and rules. Meanwhile, Trump repeatedly challenged Biden to engage in a one-on-one matchup with him.
In a recent interview with Howard Stern on Sirius XM radio, Biden expressed his willingness to debate Trump later this fall. Trump responded by saying he is ready for the debate, but questioned Biden's commitment to doing so.
