2024 US Presidential Election
Donald Trump Nominates JD Vance as Republican Running Mate
Donald Trump officially secured the Republican nomination for president after receiving votes from Florida delegates, announced by his son Eric. The convention hall erupted in cheers as states voiced support for Trump. Fox News anchor Bret Baier reported that Trump confirmed he would make his vice presidential pick public later in the day.
Trump ultimately selected JD Vance, a 39-year-old Republican US senator from Ohio, as his running mate. Vance was once a vocal critic of Trump but has since become a stalwart defender. He is considered a frontrunner to be on the Trump ticket and rose to national fame with the publication of his memoir "Hillbilly Elegy" in 2016.
