Rescuers Rush to Save Stranded Pilot Whales in Australia
A pod of long-finned pilot whales has been stranded on the western coast of Australia, with approximately 160 individuals washing up on the shore. The stranding occurred at Toby Inlet, near Dunsborough, about 150 miles southwest of Perth. Despite the high mortality rate for such incidents, wildlife rescuers have reported a rare success in this operation, saving many lives. According to statistics, around 100 whales typically die for every five that are saved during these types of events.
