UK considers paying asylum seekers to relocate to Rwanda
The UK has recently reached a new agreement with the Rwandan government that allows migrants to opt for relocation there instead of being part of the controversial deportation scheme. This plan is aimed at reducing the number of small boat arrivals in the UK, which is a contentious issue for the government. Previously, ministers have considered various "novel" ideas to address this issue. One such proposal is to pay asylum seekers whose applications have been denied up to 3,000 British pounds to move to Rwanda. This scheme is an extension of an existing policy that offers financial assistance for people to return to their home countries.
