UK and Rwanda Disagree on Repayment of Funds for Abandoned Deportation Deal
The Rwandan government has indicated that it will not reimburse more than $300 million received from the United Kingdom since 2022 under their migrant deal. The agreement did not include any clause regarding reimbursement, according to the UK's newly-elected Prime Minister who plans to scrap the controversial agreement. Rwanda's President had previously suggested that this money could be returned. However, it appears that Rwanda does not have to repay the hundreds of millions of pounds received from Britain as part of the policy aimed at sending migrants on a one-way flight to the Central African nation.
