UK Deports First Migrant to Rwanda Under Relocation Plan

The UK has relocated its first migrant to Rwanda under a voluntary scheme, separate from the government's controversial deportation policy. The individual, of African origin, was flown on a commercial flight on Monday. Meanwhile, a senior minister announced that the UK expects to deport 5,700 migrants to Rwanda this year, with Rwanda agreeing "in principle" to accept 5,700 immigrants already in the UK. This comes after the scheme aimed at deterring migrant arrivals became law.
