Russia Expresses Concern Over Poland's Plan to Host Nuclear Weapons for NATO
Poland, a NATO member, shares borders with Russia's Kaliningrad exclave and Belarus. Poland has expressed readiness to host nuclear missiles if NATO decides to deploy such weapons in response to Russia's reinforcement of its armaments in Belarus and Kaliningrad. Russia currently has nuclear-capable Iskander missiles stationed in Kaliningrad, and President Putin announced last year that some tactical nuclear weapons had been moved to Belarus.
Polish President Andrzej Duda made these statements during a visit to New York after meeting with US President Joe Biden in March.
It is important to note that while Poland has expressed its willingness to host nuclear missiles, it is ultimately NATO's decision whether or not to deploy such weapons.
