Woodstock
Woodstock was a music festival held on August 15-18, 1969, on Max Yasgur's dairy farm in Bethel, New York. The event, which drew over 460,000 attendees, featured 32 acts performing outdoors despite overcast and rainy conditions. It has been widely regarded as a pivotal moment in popular music history and a defining event for the silent and baby boomer generations. The festival has been commemorated with a 1970 documentary film, a soundtrack album, and numerous musical events bearing the Woodstock name. Woodstock was initiated by Michael Lang, Artie Kornfeld, Joel Rosenman, and John P. Roberts, who formed Woodstock Ventures in January 1969. The event was planned and executed despite disagreements among the organizers, with Creedence Clearwater Revival becoming the first act to sign a contract in April 1969.learn more on wikipedia
