Western Wall

The Western Wall is an ancient retaining wall of the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, with its most famous section being a 488-meter-long wall on the western side of the Temple Mount. The wall's lower courses date back to the end of the Second Temple period, with Herodian stones, while the upper courses were added during the Umayyad and Ottoman periods. The wall plays a significant role in Judaism as the holiest place where Jews are permitted to pray outside the Temple Mount platform, and is also known as the "Wailing Wall" or "Kotel".
