West Bank
The West Bank is a Palestinian territory located in the Levant region of West Asia, bordered by Jordan and the Dead Sea to the east, and by Israel to the south, west, and north. It has been occupied by Israel since 1967 and an advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice in 2024 determined that the occupation is illegal under international law. The territory was first occupied by Jordan after the 1948 Arab-Israeli War and was later annexed by Israel in 1980, with the Oslo Accords splitting it into three regional levels of Palestinian sovereignty. The West Bank remains central to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, with the Palestinians considering it the heart of their envisioned state and right-wing Israelis seeing it as their ancestral homeland. The territory has a population of approximately 2.7 million Palestinians and over 670,000 Israeli settlers.learn more on wikipedia
