US Capitol

The United States Capitol is the seat of the United States Congress, located on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. The building was completed in 1800, but was partly destroyed in the 1814 Burning of Washington and fully restored within five years. The Capitol was enlarged in the 1850s and the massive dome was completed around 1866. The building's Visitors Center was opened in the early 21st century. The Capitol is overseen by the Architect of the Capitol and is formally referred to as the east and west fronts, with the east front intended for visitor reception and the west front used for presidential inauguration ceremonies.learn more on wikipedia
