Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles
The BGM-109 Tomahawk is a long-range, all-weather, jet-powered, subsonic cruise missile used by the US Navy and Royal Navy for ship and submarine-based land-attack operations. It was developed in the 1970s by General Dynamics and has undergone multiple upgrades and variants, including the use of GPS, inertial navigation, and terrain contour matching. Over a dozen variants have been developed, including air-, sub-, and ground-launched configurations with conventional and nuclear armaments. The missile's manufacturing history has seen several transitions, with Raytheon remaining the sole supplier of non-nuclear, sea-launched Tomahawk variants as of 2024. The Tomahawk has undergone significant upgrades, including the introduction of turbofan engines, improved navigation systems, and electro-optical sensors, allowing for better fuel economy, loitering capabilities, and real-time battle damage assessment.learn more on wikipedia
