Tel Nof Air Base

Tel Nof Airbase is the oldest and main base of the Israeli Air Force, located 5 km south of Rehovot, Israel. Established in 1939 as RAF Aqir, it served as the main base for the Royal Air Force in Palestine and was later renamed Ekron Airbase and then Tel Nof Airbase in 1950. The base was the site of the first Israeli fighter aircraft, the Avia S-199, which took off on May 29, 1948, and conducted its first mission. Tel Nof Airbase has also been home to the Paratroopers Brigade, whose headquarters and training center are still located on the base today, and has played a significant role in Israel's wars, including the Six-Day War.learn more on wikipedia
