Tarapur Atomic Reactor

The Tarapur Atomic Power Station is a nuclear power plant located in Tarapur, Palghar, India, and was the first commercial nuclear power station built in the country. It was constructed with two boiling water reactor units in 1969 and later expanded with two pressurised heavy water reactor units in 2005. The facility is operated by the Nuclear Power Corporation of India and has a residential complex for its personnel. Due to India's nuclear test in 1974, the plant was no longer supplied with enriched uranium by the West, and instead received fuel from France, China, and Russia.
