Tampa International Airport
Tampa International Airport is a public airport in Hillsborough County, Florida, owned by the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority. The airport serves 100 non-stop destinations across North America, Central America, the Caribbean, and Europe, and is the successor to Drew Field Municipal Airport. The airport was the birthplace of commercial airline service, with the inaugural flight of the St. Petersburg-Tampa Airboat Line on January 1, 1914. Drew Field was used by the United States Army Air Forces during World War II, and after the war, airlines moved to the airport from Peter O. Knight Airport, which was too small to handle larger planes. The airport was renamed Tampa International Airport in 1950, and its second terminal opened in 1952, serving three airlines, but was soon swamped with increased air traffic.learn more on wikipedia
