Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal is an ivory-white marble mausoleum located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India, commissioned by Shah Jahan in 1631 to house the tomb of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal, who died in 1631. The mausoleum was completed in 1648, but work on the surrounding complex continued for another five years. The building complex incorporates design traditions of Indo-Islamic and Mughal architecture, employs symmetrical constructions with various shapes and symbols, and features white marble inlaid with semi-precious stones. The Taj Mahal attracts over five million visitors per year and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983, recognized as a symbol of Indian history and a universally admired masterpiece of the world's heritage.learn more on wikipedia
