Swahili

Swahili is a Bantu language with approximately 150-200 million speakers, primarily in Tanzania, Kenya, and Mozambique. It has a significant number of loanwords from Arabic, Portuguese, English, and German, with around 40% of its vocabulary consisting of Arabic loanwords. Swahili emerged as a lingua franca in the region during the era of contact between Arab traders and the Bantu inhabitants of the east coast of Africa.
