Sustainable Development Goals
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development adopted by the United Nations in 2015 created 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aimed at achieving "peace and prosperity for people and the planet" while addressing climate change and preserving natural resources. The SDGs highlight the interconnectedness of environmental, social, and economic aspects of sustainable development, and their ambitious goals include eradicating poverty, hunger, and inequality, achieving good health and well-being, quality education, and gender equality, among others. Despite efforts, the SDGs face significant challenges, including rising inequalities, climate change, and biodiversity loss, and most goals are unlikely to be met by 2030. The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated these challenges, emphasizing the need for prioritizing environmental sustainability and understanding the indivisible nature of the goals. Funding remains a critical issue for achieving the SDGs, and significant financial resources are required worldwide.learn more on wikipedia
