Stanley Cup
The Stanley Cup is the championship trophy awarded annually to the National Hockey League (NHL) playoff champion, considered one of the most important championships in ice hockey. Commissioned in 1892 as the Dominion Hockey Challenge Cup, it was named after Lord Stanley of Preston, the Governor General of Canada. The trophy has undergone several changes, including the addition of engraved names of winning teams and players, and is currently displayed with a silver and nickel alloy bowl and a height of 89.5 centimeters. The NHL has maintained control over the trophy, but it is actually owned by two Canadian trustees, with the league using it by agreement. A new Stanley Cup is not made every year, but the winning team keeps it for a limited time and a portion of the names of players, coaches, and staff are engraved on its bands.learn more on wikipedia
