Southern Bug River
The Southern Bug is a navigable river in Ukraine, with a length of 806 kilometers and a drainage basin of 63,700 square kilometers. It originates in the west of Ukraine and flows southeasterly into the Bug Estuary, passing through several important cities including Khmelnytskyi, Vinnytsia, and Mykolaiv. The river has been an international border on several occasions, including during the Russo-Turkish War and World War II. The river's name is derived from the Indo-European verbal root *bheug-, with the Slavic name Boh referring to a river bend, and the Polish name Boh referring to low banks or overgrown areas. The river has been stocked with carp and silver carp to improve its ecology. The Varvarivskyi Bridge in Mykolaiv spans the river, and other bridges and ferries also cross the river.learn more on wikipedia
