Shonan Maru 2

The Shōnan Maru 2 is a Japanese security vessel operated by the Japanese Fisheries Agency. It has a sister ship, the Shōnan Maru, and is similar in design to whale catchers used by the Institute of Cetacean Research. The vessel has been involved in altercations with the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, including a collision with the MY Ady Gil in 2010 that resulted in the sinking of the Ady Gil.
