Seine River

The Seine is a 777-kilometre-long river in northern France that rises at Source-Seine, 30 kilometres northwest of Dijon, and flows through Paris before emptying into the English Channel at Le Havre. The river is navigable by ocean-going vessels as far as Rouen, 120 kilometres from the sea, and is used for recreational boating and sightseeing tours. There are 37 bridges in Paris across the Seine, with dozens more outside the city. The Seine is divided into five parts, including the Seine Maritime, which is used by ocean-going craft, and the Haute Seine, which has 8 locks and is used for navigation to Montereau-Fault-Yonne.
