Sandy Cay

Sandy Cay Reef is a small coral reef in the Spratly Islands, South China Sea, claimed by China, the Philippines, Taiwan, and Vietnam. It was the site of a planned Philippine shelter for fishermen in 2017, which was halted after China opposed the plan, citing a violation of the 2002 Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea. Since then, the feature has remained unoccupied, but Chinese maritime vessels have loitered nearby.
