River Severn
The River Severn is the longest river in Great Britain, stretching 220 miles (354 km) from its source in the Cambrian Mountains in mid-Wales to the Bristol Channel. It rises at an altitude of 2,001 feet (610 m) and flows through Shropshire, Worcestershire, and Gloucestershire, with major tributaries including the Vyrnwy, Tern, Teme, and Warwickshire Avon. The Severn Estuary, which begins after the Second Severn Crossing, discharges into the Bristol Channel, which opens into the Celtic Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. The river's name is thought to derive from a Celtic phrase meaning "a gap in the coastline" or from a British word meaning "land of summertime fallow", and has been influenced by various cultures, including the Romans and Scandinavians.learn more on wikipedia
