Rio Grande
The Rio Grande is a major river in the Southwestern United States and northern Mexico, stretching 1,896 miles (3,051 km) from south-central Colorado to the Gulf of Mexico. It is the 4th longest river in the United States and North America by main stem, and its drainage basin covers an area of 336,000 square miles (870,000 km2). The river flows primarily through arid and semi-arid lands, providing water to seven US and Mexican states, and its fertile valley is a vital agricultural area, but due to high water consumption, only 20% of its water reaches the Gulf of Mexico. The Rio Grande forms the international border between the US and Mexico for a significant portion of its length, and 260 miles of the river are designated as the Rio Grande Wild and Scenic River.learn more on wikipedia
