Republican National Convention
The Republican National Convention is a series of presidential nominating conventions held every four years since 1856 by the Republican Party in the United States. The convention is administered by the Republican National Committee and aims to officially nominate and confirm a candidate for president and vice president, adopt a party platform, and unify the party. The first Republican National Convention was held in 1856 in Philadelphia, where John C. Frémont was nominated for president and William L. Dayton for vice president. The convention has a long history, with notable events including the 1912 convention where Theodore Roosevelt challenged William Howard Taft, the 1924 convention which gave women equal representation, and the 1940 convention which was the first national convention broadcast on live television.learn more on wikipedia
