Reclaim the Night

Reclaim the Night is a movement started in Leeds in 1977 as part of the Women's Liberation Movement, initially responding to the "Yorkshire Ripper" murders and police instructions for women to stay indoors at night. The movement involved marches across England until the 1990s, with the first marches taking place in Leeds on November 12, 1977, followed by a dozen more marches in other cities.
