Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir
The site of Ram Janmabhoomi, according to Hindu religious beliefs, is the birthplace of Rama, the seventh avatar of Vishnu, and is believed to be located on the banks of the Sarayu river in the city of Ayodhya. Some Hindus claim that the exact site of Rama's birthplace is within the grounds where the Babri Masjid once stood in modern-day Ayodhya, with this belief dating back to at least 1822. The Babri Masjid was constructed in the 16th century, but archaeological excavations around the ruins of the mosque suggested the existence of a pre-existing temple, although this is disputed. The mosque was demolished by Hindu nationalists in 1992, and the Indian Supreme Court ruled in 2019 that the land be handed over to a trust to build a Hindu temple, with the court also compensating the Muslims by providing them 5 acres of land to build a mosque. The temple was later inaugurated in January 2024.learn more on wikipedia
