RAF Mildenhall
RAF Mildenhall is a Royal Air Force station located near Mildenhall in Suffolk, England, which primarily supports United States Air Force (USAF) operations. The base was opened in 1934 and played a significant role in World War II, hosting various aircraft and squadrons, including the Handley Page Heyford bombers and Vickers Wellington aircraft. After the war, the base was reopened in 1950 and became a joint operation base for the RAF and USAF, hosting B-50 Superfortresses, KC-97 Stratofreighters, U-2 and SR-71 Blackbird operations, and other aircraft. The base is currently home to the 100th Air Refueling Wing and has been confirmed to remain operational despite initial plans to relocate operations to Germany and elsewhere in the UK.learn more on wikipedia
