Project Kuiper
Kuiper Systems LLC, a subsidiary of Amazon, was established in 2019 to deploy a large satellite internet constellation. The company was granted approval by the Federal Communications Commission to deploy 3,236 satellites into low Earth orbit, with the first 578 satellites launching first. Amazon has purchased 92 rocket launches from various providers, including United Launch Alliance, ArianeGroup, and Blue Origin, for over US$10 billion. The company is required to launch and operate half of its satellites by July 30, 2026, and the remaining satellites by July 30, 2029. As of January 2025, only two prototype satellites have been launched, with Amazon planning to begin internet service once the first phase of satellites is deployed.learn more on wikipedia
