The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, founded in 1848, was a group of English artists, writers, and critics who sought a return to the detailed and colorful styles of Quattrocento Italian art. Led by William Holman Hunt, John Everett Millais, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, and others, they rejected the classical and academic approaches to art and advocated for a more personal and expressive style, often incorporating Christian themes and Romantic influences.
