Portland International Airport
Portland International Airport is a joint civil-military airport located within Portland's city limits, covering 3,000 acres of land. It is the largest airport in Oregon, accounting for 90% of the state's passenger air travel and more than 95% of its air cargo. The airport has direct flights to cities in the US and several other countries, and is a hub for Alaska Airlines. It also has a maintenance facility for Alaska Air subsidiary Horizon Air and provides general aviation services. Local transportation includes the MAX Red Line light rail and Interstate 205. The airport was originally built in 1927 on Swan Island, but was relocated to its current site in 1936 after it became clear that the smaller airfield was becoming obsolete. The airport has undergone several expansions, including the construction of a new terminal and longer runway in 1952.learn more on wikipedia
