Ponte Sant'Angelo

The Ponte Sant'Angelo, originally known as the Aelian Bridge, is a Roman bridge in Rome, Italy, completed in 134 AD by Emperor Hadrian. It spans the Tiber River with five arches, including three original Roman arches, and is now solely pedestrian. The bridge is faced with travertine marble and offers a scenic view of the Castel Sant'Angelo. Historically, it has been used by pilgrims to reach St. Peter's Basilica and has undergone several renovations, including the addition of statues of the apostles and evangelists, as well as the installation of angels by Bernini.
