Persian Gulf

The Persian Gulf is a Mediterranean sea located in West Asia, extending from the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean between Iran and the Arabian Peninsula. It has a surface area of approximately 251,000 square kilometres and is connected to the Gulf of Oman in the east by the Strait of Hormuz. The Persian Gulf is an extension of the Arabian Sea and the larger Indian Ocean, with a maximum depth of 90 metres and an average depth of 50 metres.
