Perseus
Perseus was the legendary founder of the Perseid dynasty, considered one of the greatest Greek heroes and slayer of monsters before Heracles. He beheaded the Gorgon Medusa for Polydectes and saved Andromeda from the sea monster Cetus. Perseus was the son of Zeus and the mortal Danaë, and the half-brother and great-grandfather of Heracles. His name is thought to be pre-Greek, but may have descended from the Proto-Indo-European language, possibly from the verb πέρθειν (pérthein, "to waste, ravage, sack, destroy"). He is associated with the name of the Persian people, but the native name of the Persians has always been pronounced with an -a- and is not directly related to Perseus. Perseus's story involves his birth, imprisonment in a bronze tower, and eventual rescue by his father Zeus, followed by his adventures and exploits as a hero.learn more on wikipedia
