Papal Liturgical Ceremonies
The Office for the Liturgical Celebrations of the Supreme Pontiff is responsible for organizing and conducting liturgies and other religious ceremonies performed by the pope of the Catholic Church. The office is headed by a "master" appointed for a term of five years, who advises the pope on expressing his interpretation of the liturgical modifications instituted following the Second Vatican Council. The office supports the pope in making changes to liturgical practices, with Pope Francis removing preconciliar elements and shortening the ceremony for the canonization of saints. The Master of Pontifical Liturgical Celebrations assists the pope at sacred functions and assists cardinals on various occasions, including during consistories and the solemn celebration of Mass. The Master is assisted by several Masters of Ceremonies, who also hold other offices in the Roman Curia.learn more on wikipedia
