Palace Of Tears
The Tränenpalast, or Palace of Tears, was a former border crossing point between East and West Berlin that operated from 1962 to 1989. It was located at Berlin Friedrichstraße station and served as a separate checkpoint for different groups of travelers, including West Berliners, West Germans, foreigners, diplomats, transit travelers, and East Germans. The building was named after the tearful partings that took place between western visitors and East German residents who were not permitted to travel to West Berlin. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the building was used as a nightclub and stage until 2006, and it was later converted into a museum that displays exhibitions about Berlin during the Cold War and the German reunification process.learn more on wikipedia
