The Ring of Fire is a tectonic belt of volcanoes and earthquakes that surrounds most of the Pacific Ocean, stretching approximately 40,000 km in length and up to 500 km in width. It contains around 750-915 active or dormant volcanoes, accounting for about two-thirds of the world's total, and is responsible for about 90% of the world's earthquakes, including most of its largest ones.
