The Boeing P-8 Poseidon is an American maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft developed by Boeing Defense, Space & Security, derived from the civilian Boeing 737-800 airliner. The aircraft operates in anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance roles, and is equipped with torpedoes, missiles, and other weapons. The P-8 is currently operated by several countries, including the United States Navy, and has been ordered by several others, including the Indian Navy and the Royal Australian Air Force.
