Operation Al-Aqsa Storm
On 7 October 2023, Hamas and other Palestinian militant groups launched a coordinated attack on Israel, breaching the Gaza-Israel barrier and launching a barrage of 4,300 rockets and incursions into Israeli territory. The attack resulted in the deaths of 1,139 people, including 695 Israeli civilians, 71 foreign nationals, and 373 members of the security forces, with many more wounded. The attack was met with condemnation from 44 countries, who denounced it as terrorism, while some Arab and Muslim-majority countries blamed Israel's occupation of the Palestinian territories as the root cause of the attack. The attack initiated the ongoing Israel-Hamas war and was described as the bloodiest day in Israel's history and the deadliest for Jews since the Holocaust.learn more on wikipedia
