Nagoya Protocol
The Nagoya Protocol is a supplementary agreement to the 1992 Convention on Biological Diversity, adopted on October 29, 2010, and entering into force on October 12, 2014. The protocol aims to implement the fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising from the utilization of genetic resources, contributing to the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity. It sets out obligations for contracting parties to take measures in relation to access to genetic resources, benefit-sharing, and compliance. As of April 2022, 137 parties have ratified the protocol, including 136 UN member states and the European Union. The protocol's implementation will require effective domestic-level implementation, which will be supported by tools and mechanisms provided by the protocol.learn more on wikipedia
