Mujahideen
Mujahideen refers to people who engage in jihad, or the fight on behalf of God, religion or the community. The term originated in Arabic and has been used to describe Muslim resistance movements throughout history, including against British colonial rule in India and Soviet occupation in Afghanistan. In the context of the Soviet-Afghan War, the term referred to a coalition of guerrilla groups in Afghanistan that opposed the invading Soviet forces and eventually toppled the Afghan communist government. These groups, led by regional warlords and tribal leaders, received support from outside and coordinated their efforts in a decentralized and fragmented manner. The mujahideen movement in Afghanistan was marked by ideological differences and a lack of centralized leadership, and eventually gave rise to the Taliban and the Northern Alliance.learn more on wikipedia
