Mount Rainier
Mount Rainier is a large active stratovolcano in the Cascade Range of the Pacific Northwest, located in Mount Rainier National Park, approximately 59 miles south-southeast of Seattle. It has an officially recognized summit elevation of 14,410 feet, making it the highest mountain in the US state of Washington, the most topographically prominent mountain in the contiguous United States, and the tallest in the Cascade Volcanic Arc. Mount Rainier is considered one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world due to its high probability of eruption and proximity to a major urban area, posing a threat to the Puyallup River valley and other surrounding areas. The mountain is also a popular destination for climbers, with over 439,460 people having climbed it between 1950 and 2018, and has resulted in approximately 84 fatalities in mountaineering accidents from 1947 to 2018.learn more on wikipedia
