Mount Hermon
Mount Hermon is a mountain cluster at the southern end of the Anti-Lebanon mountain range, straddling the border between Syria and Lebanon. Its summit, at 2,814m above sea level, is the highest point in Syria. The mountain cluster has three distinct summits and is part of the larger Anti-Lebanon range, which extends 150km in a northeast-southwest direction. The Hermon range covers approximately 700km2, with about 70km2 under Israeli control. The mountain is a significant geographic resource, capturing a large amount of precipitation in a dry region, and its meltwater feeds springs at the base of the mountain, which merge to become the Jordan River. The area has fertile plant life and is strategically important due to its elevation and water resources, and is also considered sacred in many cultures.learn more on wikipedia
