Motherland Monument
The Mother Ukraine statue is a 62 meter tall titanium statue in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. It is a part of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War and originally symbolized Soviet victory in the Second World War. The statue was designed by sculptor Yevgeny Vuchetich and was modeled after Ukrainian painter Nina Danyleiko. The original name of the statue was Mother Motherland, but it was renamed to Mother Ukraine in 2023. The statue was originally emblazoned with the hammer and sickle emblem of the Soviet Union, but in 2023, the Soviet heraldry was removed and replaced with Ukraine's coat of arms, the tryzub. The base of the statue houses the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War and features a memorial hall with marble plaques bearing the names of soldiers and workers honoured during the war. The statue's sword was shortened to resolve aerodynamic problems during wind tunnel testing.learn more on wikipedia
