Mirage 2000
The Dassault Mirage 2000 is a French multirole, single-engine, delta wing, fourth-generation jet fighter manufactured by Dassault Aviation. It was designed as a lightweight fighter to replace the Mirage III for the French Air Force, and was later developed into a multirole aircraft with several variants, including the Mirage 2000N and 2000D strike variants, and the improved Mirage 2000-5. Over 600 aircraft were built and it has been in service with nine nations. The Mirage 2000 began as a secondary project in 1972, but after the cancellation of the Super Mirage G8A in 1975, the single-engine Mirage 2000 was chosen by the French Air Force due to its affordability and performance. The first prototype, Mirage 2000 No. 01, made its first flight on 10 March 1978, and the production of the Mirage 2000 involved three construction sites in Bordeaux, with final assembly taking place at Bordeaux–Mérignac Airport.learn more on wikipedia
