Master and Margarita

Mikhail Bulgakov's novel The Master and Margarita was written in the Soviet Union between 1928 and 1940, but due to censorship and official pressure, it was first published in Moscow magazine in 1966-1967 in a censored version. The full text of the novel was not published in book form until 1967 in Paris, and even then, it included parts cut out by official censors.
