Mahamuni Pagoda
The Mahamuni Buddha Temple is a Buddhist temple and major pilgrimage site located southwest of Mandalay, Myanmar. The temple houses the Mahamuni Image, a highly venerated Buddha statue that was cast in Arakan and is believed to be one of the few likenesses of the Buddha made during his lifetime. According to legend, the Buddha himself visited the Dhanyawadi city of Arakan in 554 BC and requested that an image be cast of him, which he then imbued with his spiritual essence and named "Candasara". The image is said to have been created by Sakka and Vissakamma, two powerful beings in Buddhist cosmology, using ornaments donated by the king and his people. The temple has undergone various challenges, including a significant earthquake in 2025 that damaged the temple.learn more on wikipedia
