M88
The M88 recovery vehicle is a large armored recovery vehicle (ARV) used by the United States Armed Forces, with three variants: M88, M88A1, and M88A2 HERCULES. The M88 series has seen action in several conflicts, including the Vietnam War, Persian Gulf War, Iraq War, and War in Afghanistan. It is designed to repair or replace damaged parts in fighting vehicles, as well as extricate vehicles that have become bogged down or entangled. The M88A2 has a 70-ton single-line recovery capacity and can lift 35 tons with its A-frame boom. It also employs an Auxiliary power unit (APU) to provide auxiliary electrical and hydraulic power when the main engine is not in operation. The M88 series has a 12.7 mm M2 Browning .50 caliber machine gun and has a ground clearance of 432 mm. The M88A2 is the latest variant, introduced in 1997, and has a 1050 hp Continental AVDS 1790-8CR engine.learn more on wikipedia
