Last Supper
The Last Supper is the final meal that Jesus shared with his apostles in Jerusalem before his crucifixion, commemorated by Christians on Holy Thursday. The meal is described in all four canonical Gospels and is the scriptural basis for the Eucharist, also known as "Holy Communion" or "The Lord's Supper". Jesus predicts his betrayal by one of the apostles present and foretells that Peter will deny knowing him before the next morning. The meal is also where Jesus washes the feet of the apostles, gives them the new commandment to love one another, and includes the Farewell Discourse by Jesus. The account of the Last Supper has been seen by scholars as the source of early Christian Eucharistic traditions, while others see it as derived from 1st-century eucharistic practice as described by Paul in the mid-50s. The term "Last Supper" does not appear in the New Testament, but is traditionally used to refer to the event, with various Christian traditions using different terms to refer to it, such as "Lord's Supper", "Mystical Supper", and "Secret Supper".learn more on wikipedia
